The Southwest Florida Criminal Justice Academy is certified by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission as one of 41 Statewide criminal justice training centers. Our students train to become Florida certified Law Enforcement Officers, Correctional Officers, and Probation and Parole Officers.
The Southwest Florida Criminal Justice Academy also provides cross training (EoT) for Law Enforcement Officers who are certified in another state and wish to become Florida Certified.
Additionally, the Southwest Florida Criminal Justice Academy provides Advanced & Specialized training courses which are designed to provide for the continuing education and training needs of officers after basic certification.
The Academy is run under the auspices of the School District of Lee County. Additional policies and schedules are co-created by the Academy's Local Advisory Board and the Region 10 Advisory Council.
The Southwest Florida Criminal Justice Academy is a regional training center fulfilling the training needs of Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Probation & Parole agencies for Hendry, Collier, Lee, Glades, and Charlotte counties. Well over 3000 Law Enforcement, Correctional, and Probation & Parole Officers attend various training courses annually.
The Southwest Florida Criminal Justice Academy employs over 100 certified instructors whose occupations and experiences range from Attorneys to Psychologists with every type of Law Enforcement and Correctional professional in between.
